Biography

Gabonamong Makgalane is the Registered Counsellor for Gauteng. She holds a Bachelor of Social Science (B.Soc.Sc) with majors in Psychology, Criminology, and Sociology, as well as a Postgraduate Diploma in Labour Law (PGDLL), both from the University of the Free State.

Her career began in 2018 as a Career Development Officer (Intern) at Motheo TVET College. In 2019, she joined Higher Health as a Campus Health and Wellness Coordinator, where she was responsible for Maluti TVET College in the Eastern Free State from 2019 to 2022, and for Motheo TVET College in Bloemfontein from 2022 to 2023.

In collaboration with partners, she led the Department of Social Development’s Social Behavioural Change Initiative, “Men Championing Change,” at Motheo TVET College. A key focus of this initiative was to engage men and boys through advocacy and campaigns aimed at preventing and addressing the issues of rape culture and Gender-Based Violence (GBV) in South Africa. The program was successfully implemented across all six campuses.

Gabonamong is registered with the Association for Supportive Counsellors and Holistic Practitioners (ASCHP).
