Higher Health joined the World TB Day commemorative event held at Wilberforce Community College, Emfuleni Local Municipality, Sedibeng District, Gauteng in partnership with South African National AIDS Council and the Gauteng Provincial government. Minister of Health in South Africa, Dr. Joe Phaahla was in attendance and provided the keynote address.
Higher Health demonstrated our commitment to caring for rural communities and people with disabilities at the World TB Day event, as we provided a range of free services at our exhibition stand and mobile clinic, including TB information sessions, screenings for TB and STIs, HIV testing, condom distribution, and additional clinical services.
World TB Day serves as a reminder to renew our dedication, inspire action, and work towards ending TB altogether.
The 24th March is the anniversary of the day in 1882 when the bacterium causing TB was first discovered. According to the World Health Organization (WHO) TB is still one of the world’s deadliest diseases and recent years have seen a worrying increase in drug-resistant TB. World TB Day is an opportunity to renew commitment, inspire and take action to end TB.
Let’s unite in the fight and advocate for a society free of TB!
